Class Descriptions:
PRESCHOOL CLASSES (Ages 3-5)
Pike: This level helps children learn water adjustment, develop safe pool behavior and strive towards developing independent movement in the water. Designed for new swimmers, teaching basic strokes, kicking skills, face in water comfort, safety, fun and values.
Eel: This advanced beginner level reinforces Pike skills and is for children who are comfortable with water. They are taught to kick, float, glide, perform the progressive paddle stroke, fun and values. Children will swim the length of the pool unassisted by the instructor when completed.
Ray/Starfish: Swimmers will be encouraged to swim without floatation devices. Skills focused on include front crawl, back float, endurance, safety skills, rescue skills, fun and values. Deeper water will be introduced along with kneel dives, rescue, breast stroke and side stroke. Preparing for school age swimming lessons.
SCHOOL AGE CLASSES (Age 6 and up)
Polliwog: Beginning level for school age children. This gets children acquainted with the pool, use of floating and floatation devices. Students will learn rhythmic breathing, flutter kick, front and back float/glide and jumping in both the shallow and the deep end. Basic water safety is covered. Children will swim several lengths of pool when completed. (Floatation devices can be used but students are encouraged towards water independence. Comparable to Red Cross Level 2)
Guppy: Children will review and practice upon polliwog skills and must have graduated from using floatation devices. Study and practices of rotary breathing, crawl stroke, and back crawl. They will also learn survival floating, underwater swimming, turning over and changing directions as well as rescue assists. (Comparable to Red Cross Level 3)
Minnow: This is designed for the intermediate swimmer. Must have passed Guppy skills before enrolling. Guppy skills are reviewed and breast stroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke are introduced. (Comparable to Red Cross Level 4)
Fish: Can swim one pool length continuously of proper front and back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Will work on building endurance and perfecting the breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke. (Comparable to Red Cross Level 5)
Flying Fish: Can swim 50 yards continuously of each of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Will continue to learn butterfly at this level and continue to work on building up endurance.
Shark: Can proficiently swim 50 yards continuously of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly. Will also work on starts and turns.
When: April 5th-28th, Monday and Wednesday
Time: 5:00-5:30pm, Preschool age 3-5 years old
5:45-6:30pm, School age 6 years old and up
Fee: $35 Members; $55 Public

Private Swimming Lessons are always available. They are for people of any age. You will get one on one instruction. Private lessons allow the instructor to give their student 100% of her or his attention. Our instructors will evaluate each swimmer and plan lessons according to the participants particular strengths and weaknesses. With private lessons, you can pick a time that works in your schedule. Please be aware, if a participant fails to come at a scheduled time without advance notice, the session is still counted.
Fee: $60 members; $80 non-members consisting of 6 lessons, each 30 minutes long
